Thomas J. Morrisey

Dr. Thomas J. Morrisey, professor emeritus of business, has long been a respected member of the campus community and known for his deep concern for his students. During his 35 years at Buffalo State, he influenced the lives of thousands of students and through The 1LT Michael T. Morrisey US Army Memorial Scholarship Fund has provided financial support to more than 80 students. In 2000, his faculty leadership in personally supporting and encouraging scholarship support for the college was recognized when Dr. Morrisey received the Buffalo State College Foundation’s Chairman’s Award. The same year Buffalo State College named Dr. Morrisey as its Distinguished Honoree at the Western New York Chapter, Association of Fundraising Professionals National Philanthropy Day.

Dr. Morrisey and his late wife, Mary Frances Santa Maria Morrisey, established the Fund in 1992 to honor their son, Michael T. Morrisey, who died tragically while on leave after serving on active duty as a paratroop officer. Michael graduated from Buffalo State in 1988 with a degree in information system management (ISM) and received an MBA in 1991 from the UB Jacobs School of Management.
